The five-stage system (1) of the MAKITA Power Cut ensures a clean air supply to the carburettor even under extremely dusty conditions. It separates dust particles down to 5 um - so small that they are no longer visible to the naked eye. This makes the filter system extremely effective.

With the bayonet lock (2) the filter cover can be opened virtually instantly to reach the air filter and the spark plug. A particularly user-friendly feature of the MAKITA Power Cut.

A decompression valve (3) reduces the effort needed for starting by 40% and, together with the Stop/On/Choke combination switch (4), ensures particularly easy starting. Flooding the carburettor by starting with the choke while the ignition is switched off is therefore impossible.

Extensive silencing features, e.g. a generously dimensioned muffler but also specially matched air inlet ports (5), which reduce the intake noise, make the makita Power Cut 40% quieter than comparable appliances.

A ducted cylinder (6) with Nikasil-coated friction surfaces and closed overflow ducts puts this engine in a new performance league. Characteristics are a flat torque curve for a wide operating range.

A comparatively low fuel consumption allows long working periods without topping up. A 50:1 fuel ratio with MAKITA oil gives optimum combustion.

A computer-controlled ignition system (7) with a Motorola microchip provides speed-governed ignition timing for plenty of power and high torque as well as smooth transition from idling to full-throttle operation.
A Tillotson carburettor (8) with fixed main jet largely eliminates wrong settings. A system for compensating the negative pressure which occurs with increasing filter contamination makes for long operating periods.

The lateral installation of the cutting disc (9) allows cuts directly adjacent to kerb edges, walls or directly above the ground. Changing the cutting disc from central- to lateral position and vice versa is done quickly and easily. The guard is simple to adjust with a rotary knob (10). Belt tension (11) is easily adjusted with an ordinary screwdriver. Correct belt tension can be checked quickly and easily.
